About the Adam Don Foundation
The Adam Don Foundation was formed in March, 2005 immediately after the mountain bike accident that resulted in Adam's untimely death at the age of thirty-five. Throughout his life, Adam demonstrated leadership skills, charisma, passion, and humor that are often described as "lighting up a room." His family, friends, and colleagues speak of missing "the twinkle in his eye." In order to honor his life, preserve his memory, and keep the inspirational light of Adam's life shining, the foundation was formed with the broad mission of helping to make life better for young people.
The Adam Don Foundation is a public foundation and qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under IRS section 501(c)(3). The primary fundraising event is the annual golf outing usually held on the last Monday in June. Each year, the foundation chooses a grant recipient for its funds that fulfills the mission of helping to make life better for young people. In 2007, the Adam Don Foundation provided a grant of $60,000 to First Tee of Northeastern Illinois.
The Adam Don Foundation is run by a close-knit group of volunteers comprised of family members, long-time friends, and business colleagues. In order to keep administrative expenses to a minimum, the Adam Don Foundation respectfully declines to review proposals from potential grantees at this time.
